Television

What can you say about TV? Not much!
It's supposed to be entertainment but always wants to push the envelope
to bring us more reality. Reality to TV is more sex, violence, wierdness and cursing.
All I want is entertainment.

Television sitcom jokes have two subjects either sex or put down.

Sitcom men are constantly searching for a lay and sitcom women are constantly searching for a man who is sensitive enough to deserve being laid. The men act stupid (only the studid women sleep with Charlie Harper) and the women are overly sensitive. Someone even came up with the brilliant idea for a show called "The Big Bang" where geniuses act stupid. Of course the title has two meanings the theory of the orgin of the Universe and the Big Lay. I can't wait to see whats on the horizon, the swingers in the 70's show. Like advertising all of this has no effect on the people who watch these shows.

Old TV shows like Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Burns and Allen to name a few made you laugh AT themselves and the problems of everyday life not at the misfortune or ignorance of other people's sex-life. Sex on TV has gone from the bedroom to the backroom. Which is where the politicians want us all.

Television and Sports

TV has put a hugh infusion of money into sports. Thereby expanding the market with the leagues adding more and more teams. This has brought a watering down of the quality of the product. A player no longer has to have the extra drive that it used to take to make it to the major leagues. Today's player only needs the potential for developement of his/her innate athletic ability. The money and the watering down of the product has brought with it a showoff, I want to win attitude but only if I can look good while waiting for contract time.

Rent A Player, Cry Babies - We get no respect.

At contract time the phrase is "After all this is a business, I have to look after my families' best interest." After the contracts are signed it's "We just want to go out there and have fun." Todays player wants you to be loyal to the team but he'll go to the highest bidder. His loyalty is measured by the size of his paycheck, which is grossly inflated. One year and today's player is set for life if he's smart enough to handle the financial side of the game. It isn't our hometown team anymore. It's a contract waiting to happen.
